Immersion
Our Spanish class will be taught through immersion. The class will be a mix of Spanish and English, but when I use Spanish I will very rarely tell you what the words mean in English. Don’t be afraid! This, actually, is the best way to learn a new language. Don’t worry if you don’t quite understand what I am saying. After a few weeks, you will catch on and be well on your way to understanding basic Spanish!
Fun
This class is meant to be fun. We will learn Spanish through games and repetition; don’t worry if you don’t know the answer, soon enough you will! Just do your best, have fun and the words will come!
Homework
I will assign “homework” each class that will reinforce what we learned during class. This is NOT mandatory but will absolutely help you remember what you’ve learned. Don’t do all the homework at once – try to spread it out over the week so that you practice often. To make the “homework” more exciting, you will get pesos (money) for each right answer; you will be able to use your pesos to ‘purchase’ a prize at the end of each class.
Parents
You can help your child remember what they learned in class by quizzing them over the words. I will provide a sheet to each parent with the words and phrases we used in class. Feel free to use whatever method works best for you to help your child learn. Please try to keep from telling them the English word, however. If you would like suggestions, please ask!
¡Vamos aprender!
